100 Eyes 33-37

Drawn from various internet photos I pulled over a long period of time and saved for this purpose.

These were part of a whole program of exercises I gave myself at the beginning of 2012 to get my head back into drawing after all the time away.

Moleskine Dump - Monsters

I think I drew the top one in an eye doctor's office while I waited for the drops to take effect.

I think I wasn't quite done when the drops basically made it impossible to focus, which is why this is a little less finished than my drawings usually are. But that's kind of a good thing.

I completely forget when this was made. Waiting for a movie to start, maybe?

Because I don't only draw heads.

Most of the blogging break was also a break from art in general. Family stuff which took up a lot of time and a lot of brainspace. Sketchbook work was pretty much the only work that happened in most of 2011 and the early part of 2012. When life is complicated, the drawing gets simple: simple materials, very limited subject matter. Or maybe 'focused' is a better word.

I think some of these came out OK.

100 Eyes, #25-32

One of the first projects I started on this blog was the 100 eyes series.

I've pretty much blown the original goal of doing 100 eyes inside of a year, but the project is still going, slowly but surely. These are from late January/early February 2011, mostly done from magazine covers and posters while waiting for trains on subway platforms.

Wake up, little blog monster...

I was away longer than I meant to be. But I got some new stuff to show you!

And eighteen months is a long enough nap for anyone.
